About James
James is a multidisciplinary artist exploring themes of impermanence, color perception, and immersive texture. They create artwork that is as much about the process as the end result. Each piece is a meditation, inspired by the color and texture of the nature world.
James lives in Ajo, AZ, a small town in the heart of the sundrenched Sonoran desert. They grew up in Scottsdale, AZ, and are still deeply connected to the Phoenix metro area.
In Ajo, you can find their work at Art Under the Arches Fine Art Gallery. James can be found volunteering in the gallery on Friday afternoons -- stop by and say hello when you're in town!
James is a member of the Art Under the Arches Steering Committee, a founding member of the Ajo Craft Collective, and one of the hosts of Mending Monday, a community meetup that recognizes the value of caring for and repairing the physical items in your life.
Additionally, they get messy at the Ajo Community Clay Studio, which they manage. They participate in the Quail House Collective — a shared-resource housing experiment, and host a daily silent meditation at Bonzai Studio.
